Put a charter moratorium on the ballot!
As neighborhood schools struggle to cope with devastating budget cuts, private charter operators are continuing their push for more of the system's resources. A referendum to halt charter expansion is in the works in wards across the city, including here in the 33rd Ward, where our members are leading the effort to put this issue up for a public vote.
We need 1,000 signatures by the beginning of August to get this question to ward voters.
With less than three weeks to go until the petition deadline, our members have been busy knocking doors, explaining this issue and collecting the signatures necessary to give ward voters a say in November.
We could use a few more volunteers to help us hit our goal in these last weeks.
Can we count on your help for one weeknight, or a Saturday afternoon? Sign up below and a campaign volunteer will be in touch.
